Sea Monsters

Dive into ancient oceans with this rare glimpse underwater and... back in time.

Family and Group visitors will enjoy this immersive, interactive exhibition from the Australian National Maritime Museum.

The Sea Monsters exhibition makes learning fun, engaging and relevant, with take-home messages about protecting our oceans for the future.

Family Visitors

Sea Monsters was co-curated by a palaeontologist and three children. Children of all ages and their accompanying adults will enjoy language and visuals that will foster curiosity and support their understandings.

The exhibition offers a range of delights from scale models, to small windows at little-learner height. Hands-on interactives encourage young palaeontologists to make observations, comparisons, touch, imagine and create. Queensland Museum’s exhibition includes extras such as a family activity area, gift shop and a showcase of our own scientists’ discoveries.

Families are encouraged to watch this space or subscribe to eNews for Holiday Programs, events and competitions associated with this exhibition.

Cost: Go to Buy Tickets for admissions, including discounts and packages for family visitors.

School and Group Visitors

Schools, Vacation Care, homeschooling networks and other groups will find this exhibition connects easily with a diverse range of learners. Investigate the extraordinary with us - from a delicate baby Ichthyosaur reproduction, to fossilised stomach contents, full-sized replica skeletons and 3D animations.

Discover surprises in and around every corner as prehistoric oceans are brought to life.

Find out who “sold seashells by the sea shore” and how that influenced our understanding of the fossil record. Explore the pathways science can take when curiosity meets known facts - to experiment and evaluate in finding missing pieces of the puzzle. Challenge yourself by inventing scientific names or comparing adaptations with animals alive, today.
